Terms of service

Last updated .

These terms apply when you buy or use a plugin from Tonfors. They’re written to be read. If anything is unclear, email [email protected].

1. Who we are

The plugins are made and sold by Tonfors, based in Sweden (“Tonfors”, “we”). You can reach us at[email protected].

2. Buying a plugin

When you check out, you buy a licence to use the plugin as described in section 5; you don’t buy the software itself. Payments are handled by Stripe, which sells the licence to you as reseller (merchant of record). Its name appears on your receipt and its terms of sale apply to the payment alongside these terms.

Prices are shown in USD. Where VAT or sales tax applies, it is included in or added to the price at checkout, based on where you live.

3. Delivery

You get your license file by email right after payment. The plugin itself, and every update, downloads from its page on this website. If you lose the email, enter your email address on theMy Licenses page and we’ll send your licenses again.

4. Right of withdrawal and refunds

If you’re a consumer in the EU or EEA, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content delivered straight away, that right can end when delivery starts, if you agreed to that at checkout. The checkout and its terms of sale show what applies to your order. You can try the full plugin before you buy.

Even so, if a plugin doesn’t run on a system that meets its stated requirements and we can’t fix the problem, write to us within 14 days of your purchase and we’ll refund you in full. Your statutory rights for faulty digital content are not affected by any of this.

5. Your licence

When you buy a plugin, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to:

  • install and use it on up to three computers that you own or use yourself;
  • use it to make music, sound and any other work, commercial or not. What you make with it is yours, and you owe us nothing for it.

You may not:

  • share, sell, rent, lend or give away your licence or license file;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or modify the plugin, except where the law allows it despite this term;
  • remove or get around any licence or copy protection.

Your license file carries your name and email address, which the plugin shows. Licences marked Not For Resale (NFR), which we give to reviewers, artists and testers, can never be sold or transferred and may run until a date shown in the licence.

Without a licence you may use the plugin as a free trial for as long as you like. It plays a few seconds of noise every minute while your host plays.

If your company buys a licence, it covers one person. Contact us for licences for several people. The plugins, their sound, design, presets and documentation belong to Tonfors and are protected by copyright.

6. Updates and support

Updates to a plugin you own, with fixes and improvements, are free for as long as we offer them. We may in the future release a new major version as a separate paid product or upgrade; the version you bought keeps working under these terms. We support the plugins by email at [email protected].

7. Warranty and liability

We test the plugins carefully, but we can’t promise they will work with every host, computer and system version, or that they are free of every error. Check the requirements on each plugin’s page before you buy, and keep backups of your projects.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, such as lost data, lost income or lost work, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for the plugin. None of this limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory law, or our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited.

8. Your data

We use the name and email address from your order to deliver your licence, handle support and keep the records the law requires. Payment details are handled by Stripe and never reach us. Theprivacy policy says what we keep, for how long, and your rights.

9. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swedish law. If we disagree about something, please write to us first; we’d much rather sort it out directly. If you’re a consumer and we can’t agree, you can turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN). Disputes otherwise go to the courts of Sweden, though as a consumer you may also rely on the courts and mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add new ways to buy. The version that applies to a purchase is the one published on the day you bought. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
